Beerse, March 22, 2007 - Janssen Pharmaceutica donated one of its fire vehicles to a Chilean fire department today. Guy Vermeiren, fire chief at Janssen Pharmaceutica, officially handed over the vehicle to Mr. Juan Angulo, advisor to the Chilean Ambassador to Belgium, in the presence of Samuel Silva, secretary of the “Fundación Cooperadores y Amigos del Reino de Bélgica” (co-operators and friends of the Kingdom of Belgium).

This vehicle is intended for the small town of Chonchi, which only has a 35-year-old fire vehicle and no rescue truck yet. The donated fire vehicle, which is in perfect condition, was built in 1993 and will therefore remain in service in Chile for at least another decade.
“Fundación Cooperadores y Amigos del Reino de Bélgica” was founded several years ago in order to collect and send fire-fighting equipment to fire departments in Chile.
Janssen Pharmaceutica has three vehicles: a command truck, an intervention truck and a fire-extinguishing truck. The command truck had to be replaced due to the company’s growth and increasing technical requirements imposed on such vehicles. The new vehicle has been in service since January and can also act as a mobile crisis center.
In the past, Janssen Pharmaceutica has donated fire vehicles to the Beerse and Vosselaar fire departments, which are still in active service.
