Beerse, Dec. 12, 2003 –
Janssen Animal Health, an affiliate of Janssen
Pharmaceutica, has concluded a European marketing
contract with Dechra Pharmaceuticals PLC, in Great
Britain.
The five-year contract confers on Janssen Animal
Health the marketing and distribution rights in
Europe for the veterinary medicines Vetoryl®
and Felimazole®, which were developed by Dechra
Pharmaceuticals.
The two companies will initiate the European
registration procedure jointly. They expect approval
in the course of 2005. The products will remain
the intellectual property of Dechra.
Vetoryl® is used to treat Cushing’s
disease in dogs (tumors of the pituitary or the
adrenal gland). This disease is one of the most
frequent endocrinal disorders in dogs of all breeds,
especially from the age of 7 years. Felimazole®
is used to treat hypertrophy of the thyroid gland,
the most frequent endocrinal disorder in cats.
Ian Page, Chief Executive of Dechra, commented
as follows about the contract:
