Research & Development
In the research laboratories of the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Development (PRD) hundreds of researchers are continually searching for innovative molecules - molecules that can make the difference in a world where there is still a huge need for novel and affordable breakthrough drugs.
The research efforts in our labs in Europe and in the USA have already yielded numerous groundbreaking drugs, among other things in the field of analgesics, fungal infections, gastrointestinal disorders, allergies and mental illness.
Our researchers are currently focusing on four therapeutic areas: diseases of the central nervous system, the gastrointestinal tract, cancer and metabolism and infectious diseases. This involves increasingly close collaboration between our American and European researchers. At the same time we are constantly on the lookout for promising research partners around the world. This is fully in line with the general mission of Research & Development, which is continuously to push back the frontiers and open up new horizons in healthcare.
To support the various R&D programmes we are looking for talented and creative researchers, men and women with an open mind and the ability to detect promising innovations.

Production, Quality Services and Technical Services
To be able to meet customer demand and fill their orders on time, a properly developed network of production plants, quality services and technical services is indispensable.
It is a network like this that we have developed at Janssen's locations in Beerse, Geel and Olen, in northeast Belgium. Geel is specialized in the large-scale chemical production of raw materials, while at Beerse and Olen we have several high-tech pharmaceutical plants.
In other countries too, however, Janssen has various well-equipped manufacturing facilities which are jointly responsible for the rapid and efficient supply of Janssen and J&J products. Geel is J&J's most important chemical production centre in the world, while Beerse plays a leading role in the pharmaceutical production organization in Europe.
Quality Services is the department that guarantees excellent finished products that comply with the most stringent safety standards and quality requirements. Technical Services in Beerse and Geel support these activities with highly skilled technicians in various disciplines. Owing to their expertise their services are also frequently required for international projects.
To meet the growing need for personnel, we are constantly looking for talented persons who would like to work with us on the further development of this production network.

General Services and affiliates
Janssen Pharmaceutica has more to offer than Research & Development alone, or a number of modern production plants. Both in Beerse and Geel, in northeast Belgium, we have several General Services which support these core activities.
These support services include Information Management, Financial Services, Legal Affairs, Prevention Services (which coordinate occupational health and safety and environmental protection company-wide), the Human Resources department, PR, Communication, Purchase, Janssen International etc. Their contribution is essential to the ongoing success of the company, both nationally and internationally - because many of these services also perform work with international implications for Janssen-Cilag affiliates or J&J sister companies.
This also applies to the Information Management department, which has local establishments all over the world and occupies a key position in the support of thousands of end-users, both at home and abroad. The task of this crucial department comprises both the maintenance of the IT infrastructure and the implementation and support of worldwide IT innovations, including e-business, for which the NCS EMEA team in Beerse plays an important coordinating role.
Both for General Services and for the more specialized IT related services we are constantly looking for new, talented staff; specialists and engineers with the ability to use their knowledge of their specialty to become an indispensable link in this service chain.

Janssen Animal Health
Janssen is active not only in the area of human medicine, but also in the development, production and marketing of veterinary products. These activities are carried out by Janssen Animal Health, a company that is headquartered in Beerse and assures its own R&D, Development, Sales & Marketing Activities and Distribution.
The primary focus of Janssen Animal Health is on veterinary products for treating worms, coccidiosis and fungi in companion animals and livestock. In the past decades, this division, which has by now developed into a fully-fledged company, has established and reinforced its reputation as a discoverer and distributor of innovative veterinary products. For the most part, the active ingredients of Janssen’s veterinary products come from its own research laboratories. Certain other substances are purchased from other companies or are supplied under an in-licensing or distribution agreement with another veterinary company.
Janssen Animal Health, to a large extent, is an independent company, although it still relies on Janssen Pharmaceutica for a number of support processes and services. The two companies are located on the same site, in Beerse. Creative and experienced people are needed to help develop the various activities of this veterinary medicine company.

Preservation & Material Protection
The Plant & Material Protection division is a spin-off from the search for new applications of Janssen’s antifungal agents for human use. It has its own biological research laboratories and also provides maximum support for the registration, development and marketing of its products.
The Plant Protection group is active in two niche areas: post-harvest treatment and seed treatment. Wood treatment products constitute the cornerstone of the Material Protection group.
Some 400 potentially useful molecules are screened each week in the Plant & Material Protection laboratories. The human research activities of Janssen are of course the primary source of this steady stream of new molecules. Additionally, there is a worldwide search for joint ventures with third parties that supply molecules and chemical compounds for screening under licence. Our aim is to synthesize those products that can actually be put on the market.
With a view to supporting the steady growth of this division, we are looking for ambitious and talented experts who are motivated to work with us for its continued success
